“In 2007 Dubai started preparations for hosting UITP’s World Congress & Exhibition and in 2009, decision was made and Dubai competed with Australia and Singapore to win the privilege of hosting the World Congress in Dubai, which was first time in the 125 years of history of UITP to host the World Congress outside Europe and especially in the Arab world and the MENA region,” according to Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, Board Member of RTA.
Motorists claim water in tank after fuel stop at petrol station
Some cars reportedly stalled after refuelling at a Dubai petrol station where water was said to be in some fuel pumps on Sunday.
At least five motorists called police to Emarat’s Ibn Battuta station where they said they had refuelled in the morning.
RTA awards Dh100m contract to construct internal roads at Al Barsha
The project is part of Phase II of the 5-Year Plan (2012-2016) endorsed by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for constructing internal roads at several Dubai residential districts with a cost to the tune of one billion dirham.
RTA briefs DEWA delegation on best practices of using vehicles
The delegation was received by Abdulla Al Mahra, Director of Administrative Services, RTA Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, who praised the visit as it would contribute substantially in boosting the cooperation between various entities in the UAE, particularly government departments.

Engineer Maitha bin Udai, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, said, “The 2nd edition of the contest evoked huge response from public and private schools in Dubai, especially after the promotional campaign conducted by the Traffic Department when the contest was launched in October last year.”
Shaikh Humaid Bridge inaugurated in Ajman
Shaikh Humaid (Musharif) Bridge opened in the early hours of Tuesday to ensure a safe and smooth traffic movement in Ajman city.
The bridge, located on Al Ittihad Road facing Ajman City Centre and the Ajman Police headquarters, officially opened for traffic at 12 midnight.
DTC starts installing interactive LCDs in taxis
Mansour Rahma Al Falasi, Acting CEO of DTC said, "This project is part of DTC's plan to avail edge-cutting technologies and smart services to customers. A three-year contract to this effect was awarded to Techno Line Company at the end of last year, under which 3,500 DTC taxicabs will be fitted with LCD screens to keep pace with state-of-the-art technologies and avail the technology of WIFI mobile internet connectivity.

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the board and executive director of Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) suggested regulating car use as an option. He also advocated implementation of smart systems to improve transportation services. "The RTA will have more than 200 mobile services for the convenience of people by the end of 2015,” said Al Tayer.
