RTA marks May Day

Interactive panels at School Transport Conference
The second day of the 1st International School Transport Conference & Exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Center, saw interactive panels including a work paper entitled: Engineering Road Safety for Schools, delivered by Adrian Tan Hock Chuan, Deputy Director, Community Partnership of Singapore’s Land Transport Authority.
RTA: 100,000 Dubai drivers need medical tests
Up to 100,000 drivers in Dubai will be required to undergo medical tests, after the licensing agency at the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) announced it has started to issue occupational permits for some driver categories. The change meants that truck drivers, bus drivers, taxi drivers and private chauffeurs will be required to pass a medical test.
Water buses from Dubai to Sharjah
Commuting between Dubai and Sharjah may soon include the option of travelling on a water bus as Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) is looking at the possibility of creating new routes connecting the two emirates by sea.

Road upgrades in Dubai residential area ease traffic flow
New roads to improve traffic in and out of Al Quoz have been completed, the Roads and Transport Authority has said. The upgrades to the residential area in Al Quoz 4 also involved street lighting, roadside parking and rainwater drainage.

RTA’s ‘tech eye’ helps improve Dubai transport efficiency
From trains and buses to waterbuses and taxis, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) monitors every movement of public transport through its ‘tech eye’ or Automated Vehicle Management (AVM) system. Introduced a couple of years ago, the satellite supported system initially supported only Dubai Metro trains, but is now used to cover more modes of transports including buses, waterbuses and taxis.
