Metro noise: RTA to pay villa owners
Noise from maintenance work at the Dubai Metro Depot in Rashidiyah has affected 17 houses in the area and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is taking steps to ease the impact by strengthening the structures and said it will disburse funds to owners. It is also considering providing new houses to those residents whose buildings have been damaged beyond repair.
Quality of instruction considered poor in Dubai
Dubai is known for its strict driver licensing regime. Dubai's Salik experiment makes a clear case for toll roads
Experts estimate Salik - Arabic for "clear" - generates around Dh600 million a year for the RTA based on the assumption there are 1400 cars passing through one lane of a Salik gate during rush hour. According to a report from the RTA, the system collected Dh800 million from Salik in 2010 while revenue from July 2007 to December 2009 was Dh1.658 billion
Women exempt from Dubai night driving test
“The night driving test is meant to test the ability of new drivers to drive in the dark, which is different from driving during the day,” explains Ahmad Hashim Behroozian, CEO of the RTA Licensing Agency, which is responsible for the unified tests of Dubai’s driving schools.
Rashid Hospital Tunnels to open next June
“The Rashid Hospital Tunnels is being constructed as part of an integrated project through which the RTA is seeking to reduce traffic congestions in the vicinity of Rashid Hospital, and raise the traffic flow in the area. The total capacity of roads located within the project domain is poised to rise upon the project completion to 6,000 vehicles per hour,” said Al Tayer.
