Salik top-up is now as easy as recharging prepaid mobile connections as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) launches new e-vouchers. According to RTA, the new vouchers are available at more than 3,000 stores across the country.

The e-services will include the renewal of licences for vehicles under three years old, applications for licences for drivers under the age of 21, application for driver/vehicle licensing certificates, requests for parking cards, as well as the current Salik top-up option.

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently signed partnership agreement with Al Buhaira National Insurance Company, whereby the latter will distribute prepaid parking cards, Salik tags, and Salik account top-up cards at its outlets in various land border posts of the UAE.

Dubai is known for its strict driver licensing regime. Many inexperienced drivers have flunked the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) tests several times and it is normal to see applicants taking two or four attempts with an examiner prior to licence issuance. The highest number of attempts recorded so far in Dubai is 20.
