Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has announced the opening of the Burj Dubai tomorrow will coincide with the opening of the Burj Dubai Metro station.

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), announced that RTA will officially operate Burj Dubai metro station on Monday 04 January 2010 to mark the fourth anniversary of the Accession Day of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as Ruler of Dubai Emirate.

The Road and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that Dubai Metro has lifted nearly 6 million passengers from the moment of its launch in September 2009 up to the 9th of December 2009 through 10 stations over the Red Line.

Transport chiefs are considering opening the Burj Dubai Metro station next month to coincide with the debut of the world’s tallest tower.

Six out of ten residents of Dubai have not yet ridden the metro and only a fraction ride it regularly every day, a new survey has found.
