This morning, according to Gulf News’ reporting, the RTA has given Dubai’s taxi users yet another reason to be disgruntled as the New Year rolls in. If you remember a time when you had to put up with paying the Salik Toll fee on your daily commute then you were a 2007 user. If you’ve arrived here afterwards then it won’t necessarily matter but you still have the right to know.

Khalid Bin Walid has emerged as the busiest Metro station in Dubai with more than 19,000 passengers using the station every day, a top official has told XPRESS. Ramadan Abdullah, Director, Rail Operations, Dubai Metro, said an average of 19,097 passengers take the Metro to or from the Khalid Bin Walid station in Bur Dubai every day, followed by Union Square station with 18,113 passengers and Deira City Centre with 15,607 passengers.

Property developer Nakheel has launched a new cruise service that will provide tours of its projects off the coast of Dubai, beginning with the Palm Jumeirah. The 'Cruise with Nakheel', which sets sail beginning today around the Palm Jumeirah's crescent, is aimed at repositioning the developer's as a tourist attraction as a way to boost revenue for the development.

The Dubai Mall Metro Link, to be constructed by Dutco, will have five travelators, or moving walkways, in each direction – ten in all – with the air-conditioned and automated walkways capable of ferrying more than 13,500 individuals every hour. There will be a central walkway that will give additional space for pedestrian use.

Roads and Transport Authority is planning to introduce almost 5.6 kilometres of bus and taxi lanes in various parts of the city commencing May 15. After studying traffic flows, the RTA has moved on the dedicated lanes.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) would not comment on the decrease in drivers’ income over the past year but said that Dubai Taxi Corporation had deployed 300 vehicles to help integrate Dubai Metro with other forms of transport in the emirate.
