RTA urges motorists to observe safety precautions in desert driving
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to launch during this month an awareness campaign to educate motorists and desert driving enthusiasts about principles and precautions for avoiding traffic accidents in desert areas.
Dubai’s deadliest roads named
Traffic Police have identified the three most deadliest roads in the city and they are Emirates Road, Al Kail Road and Al Garhoud Bridge. Major-General Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, director of the Traffic Department, announced yesterday that the total number of deaths in the first eight months of this year stood at 76, out of which 38 took place at night while 34 occurred during the day.
Fewer students involved in run-over accidents; no deaths in 2011
“Only four run-over accidents were recorded in the first half of this year in which four children sustained minor to moderate injuries,” said the CEO of Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) Traffic and Roads Agency, Eng. Maitha Bin Udai. She said if the drivers “play their part with utmost caution, they can help a long way in averting traffic accidents.”
