The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) took part in a nation-wide Flag Day celebrations in the context of the ongoing response to the national initiative launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in 2012.

The Public Transport Agency - Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has recently inaugurated 9 new internal bus routes within Dubai Emirate in addition to one inter-city service shuttling between Dubai and Abu Dhabi to boost the bus transit network and keep up with the rising demand for mass transit means in general and public buses in particular.

Government departments in Dubai have geared up to observe ‘Car Free Day’ on Wednesday January 18. More than 2,500 employees in the Dubai Municipality headquarters and the nearby offices of DM will leave their cars at home and use other public transport means to reach their offices on Wednesday.

The two old air-conditioned shelters, however, still stand where they used to but are of little use to anyone. In contrast, commuters waiting for buses in front of the Union Metro Station are forced to stand in the open. This is one of the biggest Metro stations in Dubai. Yet, the bus stop in this area is an old-fashioned one.
