The handy Nol card can soon be used to make mini payments in Dubai, thanks to the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Smart Dubai Office’s vision.
The two entities have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) enabling the former to utilise the Nol card system to make useful payments.
The MoU also intends to endorse Nol cards as a means of smart payment in Dubai city, charting out a plan for the extended use of the cards to pay for various services across Dubai. The initial cost of adding a new service to the Nol system platform, and the economic feasibility of projects added to it, are being studied.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, and Dr Aisha bint Butti bin Bishr, Director-General, Smart Dubai Office, signed the MoU in the presence of several CEOs and Directors.
“As a smart payment channel, Nol card would enable Dubai residents to make mini payments as it had been endorsed as a means of payment in the city,” Dr Aisha said, adding that the MoU with RTA will enhance communication, integration and cooperation between the government bodies.
“This cooperation and coordination is bound to streamline many procedural matters, enable the implementation of joint initiatives for making customers happier, and empowering them to process transactions via smooth smart services,” Al Tayer noted. More info
