DUBAI: 2011 marks an important chapter for the UAE as it was on Dec.2, 1971 that the UAE was formed and since then, Emiratis and expatriates alike have celebrated the country’s National Day with much pride and vigour.
In commemoration of the UAE’s 40th anniversary, Dubai’s first-ever mall, Deira City Centre, has put up a news headline exhibition of the UAE’s most memorable stories from nearly 40 years.
On display at the mall’s Central Stage, the exhibition highlights all aspects of the nation’s life and heritage, focusing on the momentous growth and prosperity achieved by the nation.
The community-based presentation provides all mall visitors with an opportunity to collectively celebrate this important milestone together — embracing the spirit of unity and heritage of this ever-changing cosmopolitan community.
“Being Dubai’s first landmark shopping destination, Deira City Centre holds a special place in people’s hearts. For 16 years, we’ve been fortunate enough to celebrate UAE National Day with the growing community, as well as our loyal customers and visitors with exciting events and value-added shopping experiences. It’s a pleasure to commemorate the 40th UAE National Day by celebrating the UAE’s major milestones, achievements and successes through this visual exhibition. The transformation of the country is an inspiration for future generations as we look to the future,” said Fuad Al Najjar, asset director for Deira City Centre.
The mall will also be running a Facebook competition where fans are asked to submit UAE-inspired heart photos. Incorporating the UAE colours, pictures that receive the most likes can win shopping sprees at Deira City Centre.
Meanwhile, Mall of the Emirates will also be taking part in National Day celebrations, adorned with the patriotic colours of the UAE and the heart of the mall, the Central Galleria, will feature a larger-than-life 5m UAE flag, complementing the centrepiece attraction — a giant electronic message board featuring ever-changing inspirational and congratulatory 40th UAE National Day greetings.
