ABU DHABI // Police in Dubai have no excuse for failing to catch speeding motorists after the addition of the world’s fastest street-legal car to their fleet.
The Bugatti Veyron has topped a list of the fastest law enforcement vehicles in emerging countries, compiled by car sales website www.carmudi.ae
Capable of a top speed of 407kph, the 16-cylinder Veyron boasts 1,200 horsepower, allowing it to reach 100kph in 2.5 seconds.
The car is the jewel in the crown of the force’s fleet of luxury cars, which Dubai Police use to promote their image and to encourage greater interaction with the public.
Police chief Maj Gen Khamis Al Muzeina has said that the cars enhance the force’s presence at landmark tourist sites.
He said the police stay up-to-date with the latest cars and technology to ensure the best safety and security services.
Dubai Police also have a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 in their ranks, a supercar that was also recently acquired by the police in Vietnam to promote their ability to serve and protect. More info
