The tender, for the project named Al Shindagha Bridge, invites contractors to bid for the “design and construction of a new 2.7km-long bridge as well as road infrastructure, including a series of interchange crossings”.

Details of the bridge are awaited from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The 40-year-old Al Shindagha Tunnel currently services traffic in the area.

RTA said earlier this year that: “Plans for the demolition or replacement of the tunnel do not exist at the moment.”

According to RTA, regular inspections were carried out on the tunnel in order to evaluate and conduct preventive and corrective maintenance work in accordance with the monitoring systems in place. More info
