Road work to end Dubai's SZR traffic snarl in full swing

Thirty per cent of the Parallel Roads Project, which is meant to ease the snarl of the Shaikh Zayed Road (SZR), has been completed, said a top official.

This traffic corridor, which comprises three lanes in each direction, starts from the Shaikh Rashid Road in the north and extends 108kilometres terminating at the entrance of Abu Dhabi.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, anticipated that construction works on the two bridges crossing the Dubai Water Canal is scheduled to be completed this August.

“The project, which costs about Dh578 million, encompasses the construction of a 3.5km-long flyover comprising three lanes in each direction crossing over the Dubai Water Canal,” said the RTA chief. More info
