Al Rigga, Al Fahidi busiest metro stations in Dubai

The ridership of the Dubai Metro, both the Red and Green Lines, during the first three months of 2016 year is on the rise compared to the same period 2015 year.

Statistics reveal that during the first quarter of 2016 year, the Dubai Metro had served 49,913,698 riders, and the Dubai Tram had reported a ridership of 1,338,601 riders.

“This rise in the ridership of both the metro and tram during the first three months of this year is indicative of the appeal of these modes to residents and visitors of Dubai. The metro and tram are shaping into prime mobility means within the Emirate, thanks to their smooth, enjoyable and safe transit experience offered to various commercial & residential communities across the Emirate,” said Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes, CEO of Rail Agency of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA).

“We, in RTA, are continuously endeavoring to deliver a raft of initiatives & service improvements in a way that adds to the happiness of people, and attracts more riders to public transit modes in general, and the metro & tram in particular,” continued Abdul Mohsen.

“The number of riders using the Red Line during the first quarter of this year amounted to 31,835,078 riders, whereas the Green Line lifted about 18,078,620 riders during the same period.

Al Rigga Station topped stations of the Red Line in terms of ridership during that period recording 2,065,201 riders, followed by the Union Station, which served 1,972,811 riders, slightly ahead of Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Station that was used by 1,972,261 riders. More info
