Dubai: The station on the Metro’s Red Line in Umm Ramool on Dubai Airport Road will mainly serve employees and visitors to the new headquarters of Emirates airline and Dnata.

Located between Dubai International Airport and Al Rashidiya, the station will be called Emirates Station – named after the airline.

It will be a vital link for the airline’s employees shuttling between Dubai International Airport and Emirates headquarters.

The Umm Ramool area is mainly a commercial community with few residential units. The area is flooded with vehicle repair garages, factories, offices and car rental companies.

Right next to the station is an air-conditioned bus stop which offers bus services to nearby areas, especially to the Festival City area via Marrakesh Road.

Another important landmark is the headquarters of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) which also houses the RTA’s largest customer service centre frequented by hundreds of customers every day.

Customers go there for services related to driving licences, vehicle registration, traffic and road services.

Using the station will be beneficial for people working in various factories, garages and offices as parking is a major problem in the area.

“I am looking forward to using the Metro because the station is located right next to my workplace,” said Karim Jan, a mechanic at a car service centre.

Dileep K, an Indian sales manager at a travel agency, said that using Emirates Station would be convenient for him because he often visits the Emirates airline office. “Once the metro starts, I won’t have to drive round wasting time and money looking to park my car,” he added.

The Red Line of the Dubai Metro is scheduled to start on September 9 providing a vital link between Jebel Ali and Rashidiya passing through Shaikh Zayed Road, Bur Dubai, Karama, Deira and Dubai International Airport.
