Brigadier Saif Mohair Al Mazroui, Director of the Dubai Traffic Police said that it is incorrect that Dubai police deployed radars only to catch the violation of mobile only reported Al Bayan newspaper.
Brig. Al Mazrouei denied such rumors which was deployed via social networking sites and told Al Bayan no radar in Dubai to monitor mobile phone offences only.
He added that the photos posted on the social network sites it is belonging to one of the Gulf States.
He pointed out that it is obvious that the photo have been amended  to be as if it is in Dubai, which confused the public and the camera was hanged at the highest lighting column, which may not ne noticed.
He stressed that all modern radars in Dubai can monitor mobile violations along with other offences such as high speed, not to buckle the seat belt and not leave sufficient distance, plus mobile phone.
He added that all the radar devices are put in places and preceded by boards mentioned that there is radar ahead.
He added that such radars are to save lives of the road users by controlling the speeds on the roads. More info
