Sheikh Hamdan issues new fines for Dubai tram violations

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has issued Executive Council Resolution No. (51) of 2016 partially amending the Executive Council’s Resolution No. (1) of 2014 on regulations governing the tram system in Dubai.

The new amendments aim to enhance safety standards in the tram system.

The new Resolution substitutes Article No (18) of the Executive Council’s Resolution No (1) of 2014 on the penalties and fines imposed on violators.

The new Resolution states that jumping the red light at the tramway intersection and causing a traffic accident with fatalities will invite a minimum fine of AED15,000 and a maximum fine of AED 30,000, apart from the suspension of the driver’s license for a period of one to three years.

Jumping the red light at the tramway intersection and causing a traffic accident with casualties will invite a minimum fine of AED5,000 and maximum fine of AED 15,000 apart from suspension of the driver’s license for a period of between six months and one year.

Jumping the red light at the tramway intersection and causing a traffic accident without casualties will invite a minimum fine of AED3,000 and a maximum fine of AED 6,000 and suspension of the driver’s license for a period of between 30 days and six months. More info
