Chinese Metro filled a train with plants in an attempt to go green

The city of Hangzhou, China has come up with a novel way to show off how green their subway is – by installing a load of plants and moss inside one of the carriages.

Although the stunt only rolled around the Hangzhou Metro for a day, it’s a novel way of introducing greenery to transport infrastructure, not unlike the tube’s Underground In Bloom competition.

The video shows the train carriage bench seats replaced with astroturf, and vines snaking their way around the grab poles.

While the train garden might make the air on board a bit fresher, a mossy ride to work is probably not something you’d want every day. More info
