An Asian national has been killed after he was run over by a vehicle on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
In a report carried in Arabic daily ‘Emarat Al Youm’, the deceased was forced to a stop on the busy highway when his car broke down.
According to Dubai Police, the man then attempted to cross the six-lane highway in the dark when another car hit him.
The person driving the second car stated that the victim ‘suddenly appeared out of nowhere’ and he could neither stop the car in time or avoid him.
Upon further investigation, Dubai Police discovered the victim had been involved in a similar incident 10 years ago, which had resulted in the death of another.
The police warned others to refrain from crossing a six-lane road, where the speed limit is 140 km/h. According to the authority, In many of these cases, people who cross such roads are attempting suicide. More info
