Mall of the Emirates was the station used by the highest number of passengers, followed by Khalid bin Al Waleed Station in Bur Dubai, while Airport Terminal 3 Station was the least popular.

A total of 1,740,578 passengers used the Red Line since it opened to the public on September 10 until October 10, the RTA Rail Agency said.

Earlier on Tuesday it was reported that the metro’s Green Line would be operational by the middle of next year.

Plans are also in the pipeline to extend the Red Line by 15.5km to the border with Abu Dhabi, adding six stations and a multi-storey car park at the border.

Dr Aysha Al Busmait, director of RTA Customer Service department, gave a reminder to passengers on how to best use the metro.

“Commuters need not pack in front of the train doors as it is a direct and key reason for delaying the alighting and boarding process,” she said.
