Sandstorm, heavy rain and strong wind hit parts of the UAE on the first and second day of Eid Al Fitr celebrations.

The downpour triggered floods in some valleys in the eastern and central region of Sharjah, while the dust caused poor visibility on roads.

A number of roads in Kalba, specifically the area near Wadi Al Helo, had to be shut as rainwater filled streets and valleys. Police and patrols have been working round the clock to prevent the water from reaching the main roads, and motorists have been urged to stay safe, avoid areas near valleys, and take extra caution.

Medium to heavy rain also lashed the eastern areas of Fujairah, with the wind speed ranging from 20 to 40 kph. And in Dubai, rain of various intensity levels and dust storm struck some areas, prompting authorities to issue road warnings for drivers on Monday.

In Abu Dhabi, the rain primarily hit Sweihan Road, south of Al Wathba, Hamda, Motif, Maliha, Al Madam, as well as in Al Shuklah and Al Hayer in Al Ain.

The National Meteorological Centre said the cloudy, rainy and dusty weather across the country shall continue until today. By evening, clouds will gradually decrease, and wind speeds will remain moderate. More
