“The report is baseless. The work in ongoing on the project as normal as it can be,” Matar Al Tayer, chairman of the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) told Gulf News.

The RTA is currently building the Dubai Metro’s Green Line, expected to be operational within few months. The first line, the Red Line, started operations in September.

Media reports earlier claimed that a consortium of four Japanese general contractors and one Turkish firm is “reportedly set to suspend work” on the Dubai Metro over delayed payments for construction, it was reported on Thursday.

Al Tayer said an official statement would be issued later.
