RTA holds poetry forum

HE Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Road & Transport Authority (RTA) attended the Poetry Forum organized by the RTA Women Committee where it hosted a galaxy of elite poets in the Arabian Gulf, in the presence of executives and officials of the RTA.

At the beginning of the Forum Dr. Aisha Al Busmait, Chairwoman of RTA Women’s Committee and Director of Customer Service, welcomed invitees attending the Poetry Forum, who have demonstrated their keen support to such creative poetry event. She added: “RTA Women’s Committee is always keen on diversifying its activities to satisfy diverse public trends, so it was felt that poetry has to have some exposure in our concerns such that tasters of poem among RTA male and female employees can relish the atmosphere away from the daily business routines.”

“RTA is always keen on taking part in various communal, cultural and humanitarian activities, as well as lending all sorts of support to them out of its responsibilities towards various segments of the society, including poets and intellectuals, in line with the reputed standing enjoyed by the RTA across the community,” added Al Busmait.

Afterwards the Chairwoman of RTA Women Committee introduced to the attendants the poets who delivered national poems expressing their affinity with the nation and its unlimited giving. Among them was the Omani poet Amir Al Hosani, the first place winner in the Arts Forum’s contest as well as the first place finisher in the Cultural Club’s contest, and who also took part in the 3rd season of the Million Poet program plus other competitions at the local and international level.

Also took part in the Forum was the Emirati poetess Sheikha Al Jabri, a Senior Researcher at the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, who participated in many poetry readings inside and outside the UAE.  There was also the distinguished Emirati poetess Kaltham Abdullah, the UAE representative of the International Arab Translators Association, and member of the Administrative Staff of Poets Without Borders Society who has many works, achievements and various contributions in international events.

Also took part in the Forum was the poet Yousef Ibrahim, who works in computer engineering in the RTA and also has several participations in poetry programs in the local radio stations.

At the end of the Forum, Dr. Aisha Al Busmait honoured the participant poets who enriched the event with their wonderful poems, wishing them every success.
