Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the Middle East, plans to open 10 more branches by the end of 2011 and soon will launch a new RTA card with Nol products loaded, Head of Group Marketing Vikram Krishna said.
Currently the bank has 109 branches across the UAE with the addition of two new branches — Abu Dhabi and Sharjah — this year. In addition to new branches, there is also a plan to add 54 new ATMs during the year. At the moment the bank has 546 ATMs (and 133 CDMs).
The bank will continue its efforts to expand the reach of the brand within the country and outside, Krishna said, adding: “The focus areas in the country are new Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other emirates.”
The bank has total 14 branches in the Capital and 12 in Sharjah and other emirates. Last year it added 95 new ATMs nationwide.
Emirates NBD will soon announce a new RTA card, which will come with loaded Nol application. Nol Card is a smart card that enables commuters to pay for the use of various RTA transport modes in Dubai with a single card. The card can be used to travel on Dubai’s Metro, Buses, Water Buses, as well as pay for RTA’s Paid Parking.
Without disclosing the date of the launch of the card, Krishna said, “If you travel with metro and if you want to pay any of your RTA-related payment then this card will enable you to do that.”
He mentioned that it will be the only card product in the country that will have this facility. “It’s one of the single biggest product of the year and will give us tremendous advantage,” he said.
