Germany-based Micros Systems and UK’s Light Blue Optics presented the first wireless ordering solution for the hospitality industry at the Arabian Travel Market, a leading event for the travel and tourism sector, in Dubai.
The Micros mycentral and Light Blue Optics’ Light Touch is an interactive projector that turns any table or flat surface into an instant 10-inch touchscreen.
Customers can control the projector and interact with the menu card, play games, use Facebook or order a taxi, simply by touching the ‘interactive tablecloth’.
Through its unique integration with Micros’s mycentral, Light Touch interfaces seamlessly with restaurants’ existing Micros electronic point-of-service system or ticket printer.
Mycentral is Micros’s Web-based hospitality e-commerce platform, allowing operators to expand their dining room or foodservice offering beyond the four walls of their restaurant, hotel or arena.
With Micros mycentral, consumers can take advantage of today’s technologies and place their order over multiple channels, such as the Internet, via telephone or using mobile technology.
Ideally suited to the hospitality environment, the virtual display of the Micros mycentral – Light Blue Optics joint technology solution is spill proof, fingerprint resistant and as easy to clean as a regular table-top, a statement said.
ATM 2011 is being held at Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, and is ending today (May 5).
