The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has reviewed with a delegation of Ajman Municipality its expertise in organizing outdoor ads across Dubai Emirate and expressed readiness to cooperate with any entity interested in benefiting from RTA pioneering practices in its specialist fields of business.
Engineer Maitha bin Udai, CEO of RTA Traffic & Roads Agency, has recently received in RTA premises a delegation from Ajman Municipality headed by Abdullah bin Nasir Al Nuaimi Director of Economic Licensing, Municipality & Planning Dep’t in Ajman.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Director of Traffic engineer Hussain Al Banna, Manger of Business Development, Traffic Dep’t engineer Abdullah Jasim, Maitha stressed RTA keenness on sharing its pioneering business practices with public & private entities in the UAE. She added that the RTA was considering to publish a new Outdoor Ads Directory for Dubai Emirate in coordination with the Dubai Municipality; which is aligned with the best global advertising practices and extensive survey of the ads market in the UAE. She added that RTA was always keen on ensuring that outdoor ads satisfied all conditions, standards and requisites of safety as well as the aesthetic appearance of the Emirate.
The Business Development Manager, Traffic Dep’t, reviewed the rules & legislations governing the issuance of licenses and controls of ads falling with the Right of Way or displayed on public transport means as well as RTA traffic systems. He referred to two types of ad permits in place; the first related to temporary ads and the other related to ad contracts.
The delegation of Ajman Municipality attended to an elaborate briefing about the administrative & technical procedures of contracts made with RTA-approved firms along with the benchmarks adopted to identify the locations of ad signs in Dubai such as the special specifications relating to traffic safety, impact of ads on road users, and clarity & visibility, and that no losses are caused. There was also emphasis on the need of carrying out extensive surveys to establish the potential dangers associated with the installation of ads signage, and studying the possible scenarios related to the location of the signboard as well as the strength of its firmness, quality of building materials, installation method and fixation of pillars.
The delegation was also briefed on the smart way of zoning Dubai areas such that each category of ads will suit the surrounding environment and that the sizes and specifications of signs conform to roads & speeds.
The members of the Municipality & Planning Dep’t in Ajman were impressed with the advanced level of procedures & methods adopted by the RTA in organizing outdoor ads in Dubai, and hailed the issues discussed during the meeting, particularly the attention paid to the implementation of traffic safety standards as well as the aesthetic appearance of Dubai Emirate.
