“It is a very high figure,” said the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Corporate Technical Support Services, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Abdullah Al Madani.

He gave the total figure of all NoL cards of various categories sold from the launch of the Metro service up to the end of April this year as 3 million.

“The trend is very promising.” The RTA seeks to improve public transport ridership from the current 11 per cent to 30 per cent by 2020.

“The Dubai Metro project has yet to complete its second year, but the number of Metro commuters is showing an upward trend along with other mass transit modes, including public buses particularly those feeding the Metro stations.”

Such transactions include passengers’ entry and exit from Metro stations and public buses, payment of parking fees and recharging of various types of cards. The total number of daily transactions has now reached more than one million per day.

Meanwhile, the Commander General of Dubai Police Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim has given approval for the Dubai Police Council for Customer Service.

The council, to be chaired by Deputy Commander General Major General Khamis Matar Al Mazina, aims to improve services and launch innovative initiatives for customer satisfaction.
