DUBAI – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the second stage of linking driving and vehicle licensing services with the federal traffic system.
Seven services were covered under this stage, which included transferring vehicles within the UAE, exporting vehicles abroad, writing off/owning vehicles, issuing driver’s licence in lieu of lost or damaged ones, modifying the details of a vehicle, and renewing the retention of number plates, said Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of the RTA’s Licensing Agency.
“From now on, the RTA customers can process their transactions in other emirates and vice versa, an exercise which will save much time and effort customers needed to go to other emirate that issued the driving licence or vehicle ownership card. “This stage complements the initial stage which was dedicated to the renewal of vehicle registration and driving licence services. According to statistics of the Licensing Agency, about 10,000 transactions have been processed since the link with the federal traffic system was established in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior,” he said.
“The drivers and vehicle licensing system in Dubai has seen a quality shift over the last two years. “The project also contributed to realising a host of RTA strategic objectives as it assisted in recovering the due fines on vehicles registered in other emirates and at the same time enabling other emirates recover their due fines on vehicles licensed by the RTA involved in offences made in other emirates.
The project also enabled the collection of fines due to the police, alleviated the congestion of customer service centres, raised customer satisfaction and realised the required integration and coordination between various UAE licensing entities in the interest of the public and customers,” said Bahrozyan.
