Al Tayer explores cooperation with the new Turkish Consul in Dubai

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), received in his office H.E. Umit Yalcin, the new Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Dubai. The visit comes under RTA objectives & endeavours to foster and cement the ongoing cooperative relations at the local, regional and international level.

The meeting explored means of boosting cooperation and exchanging expertise between RTA and the Turkish companies engaged in rail, roads and transportation projects. The two parties reviewed the forthcoming road & infrastructure projects in Dubai, particularly noting that there are about 150 Turkish companies operating in various fields, including specialized ones operating in road and mass transit projects currently undertaken by the RTA.

In the outset of the meeting Al Tayer welcomed the new Turkish Consul wishing him a pleasant stay in the UAE and commended the cooperative relations between the UAE and the Turkish Republic. He also praised the performance of the Turkish companies which are constructing several rail and road projects in Dubai.

RTA Chairman and Executive Director briefed the Turkish Consul on the key projects currently undertaken by the RTA including widening of roads and bridges network, completing Dubai Metro project the first of stage of which was opened on 09.09.2009, and constructing Al Safouh Tram Project.

“RTA has committed itself to the highest standards in each project phase in order to realize the objectives of providing Safe & Smooth Transport for All, and cement the global standing of Dubai. The UAE in general and Dubai in particular is witnessing huge development entailing an influx of peoples and business; which dictated preparing roads and transport infrastructure, such as the metro, water transport, taxis and others, to address the rising growth in population, projects and urbanization” commented Al Tayer.

For his part the Turkish Consul in Dubai H.E. Umit Yalcin stated that he was impressed with the comprehensive development witnessed by the Emirate of Dubai in a record time such that it became a focal point for investors, businessmen and tourists; a drive credited to the wise leadership and shrewd vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

He also expressed his delight in seeing the Turkish Co. Yapi Merkezi as one of the constituent companies of Dubai Metro project Contractor (DURL). He concluded by hailing Dubai Metro; which added a quality shift in mobility systems in the region and a beautiful dimension to the distinctive array of projects witnessed by Dubai Emirate, besides easing mobility and reducing traffic congestion.
