Al Tayer receives Chairman of Dubai Fishermen Cooperative

H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has recently received in his office H.E. Major General Mohammed Saeed Al Murri, Chairman of the Dubai Fishermen Cooperative Association, who praised the efforts of the RTA in providing the infrastructure of roads & parking at the premises of the Association.

Al Tayer renewed RTA’s support to the efforts of the Dubai Fishermen Cooperative Association in realizing its objectives of serving Emirati fishermen, uplifting the fish trade in Dubai, and rendering superb services to consumers.

Al Tayer was briefed by Al Murri about the Association; which is the first cooperative society to serve fishermen nationwide, and manifests the leading role of the Emirate in supporting the cooperative efforts and serving all community segments, particularly those engaged in the fishing business.

“The Association seeks to improve the fishing profession and promote the cooperative spirit between fishermen, besides providing them with the basic services such as fishing ports, maritime workshops, and boat maintenance,” said Al Murri.

The meeting reviewed the existing activities of the Association spanning fish trading, fishing nets & marine accessories factory, fish market brokerage, ice factory, and fresh products project.

Al Murri reiterated the keenness of members and staff of the Association to be in constant touch with the practitioners of this profession, heed directly to their requests, explore their ambitions for improving the profession, and cope with complaints received in a transparent manner in the interest of this core segment of community members.

“Upgrading the profession is the byword in the next stage of the Association’s business and all efforts will be mustered to uplift the caliber of services offered in conformity with the strategic objectives of the Dubai Government, increase the number of Emiratis engaged in this profession, and augment the financial gains generated,” said Al Murri in a final remark.
