H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has recently received at his office H.E. Ambassador Tariq Khalid Al Hamd, the Kuwaiti Consul in Dubai, where he explored ways & means of boosting cooperation and exchanging expertise between the RTA and its Kuwaiti counterpart.
The visit comes in the context of RTA endeavours to enhance the cooperative relationships with various entities at the local, regional and global levels.
At the start of the meeting Al Tayer welcomed the Kuwaiti Consul and wished him a pleasant stay in the UAE and hailed the cooperative links between the UAE and Kuwait.
RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director briefed the Kuwaiti Consul on the key projects currently undertaken by the RTA including roads & bridges network, the Dubai Metro project; the first phase of which was opened in September 2009 and Phase II is set for opening this April, and Al Safouh Tram Project.
“RTA is committed to adopt the highest practices in each phase in order to achieve the intended objectives of providing Safe & Smooth Transport for All, and showcase the profile of Dubai across the world. The UAE in general and Dubai in particular is witnessing a huge influx of peoples and business; which warrants preparing all sorts of roads and transportation infrastructure such as Dubai Metro, water transport, buses, taxis and others in order to cope with the rising number of projects & population and cope with the urbanization drive.
For his part H.E. Ambassador Tariq Khalid Al Hamd stated that he was impressed with the sweeping development witnessed by Dubai Emirate in a record time which contributed to making Dubai a focal point for investors, businessmen an tourists, thanks to the wise leadership of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He made a special mention to the Dubai Metro project; which has brought about a quality shift in the mobility systems in the region, and added a beautiful dimension to the fabulous array of projects seen by Dubai, besides contributing to passenger transport and reducing traffic congestion.
