Danube Station opens its doors to Public from 12.12.12

The whole of UAE braced to witness the opening of Danube Metro Station earlier known as Jebel Ali Industrial Station on 12/12/12. Danube Group is the first private expatriate entity to have officially licensed an agreement with the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) securing naming rights under the second phase of the Dubai Metro Naming Rights Project.

Issuing the first ticket to H.E. Eng. Sultan Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy, UAE, H. E., Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA; Ms. Salma Ali Saif Bin Hareb, CEO of JAFZA and Mr. Rizwan Sajan, Founder & Chairman of Danube Group, the official inauguration of the Metro Station commenced. The event also marked the esteemed presence of Mr. Adnan Al Hammadi, CEO of the RTA Rail Agency; Mr. Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of RTA Corporate Technical Support Services Sector; Mr. Ebrahim Al Janahi, Deputy CEO of JAFZA; Mr. Talal Al Hashemi, Managing Director of JAFZA; Mr. Asim Al Abbasi, CFO of JAFZA; Mr. Anis Sajan, Managing Director of Danube Group, Mr. Adel Sajan, Director of Buildmart and high profile officials from RTA and JAFZA.

The Jebel Ali Industrial Station will be called Danube Station, as part of a 10-year deal under the Dubai MetroStations Naming Rights Project. The station is located on the Red Line next to the Danube headquarter in Jebel Ali and provides easy access to industrial complexes in the area. The new station is expected to bring on at least 10,000 new daily commuters to the already popular rail network which currently boasts a daily passenger volume of around 300,000. The 5.21 km-long Red Line which comprises of 29 stations, started its operation on Danube Station at 5:00 am in the morning.

Ibrahim Mohammed Al Janahi, Deputy CEO of JAFZA, commenting on the opening of the new Metro Station in JAFZA said, “The opening of the 2nd Metro Station in JAFZA will further facilitate 50,000 persons living in the staff accommodation in JAFZA and almost the same number of daily JAFZA commuters to use this most efficient and hassle free mode of transportation. By using Metro JAFZA commuters are and will be contributing their bit in reducing carbon emission, which is generated by private cars and public transportation systems.”
