A traffic diversion at Dubai International Airport was launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Thursday.
The diversion will extend from the intersection of Casablanca Road with Airport Road’s Cargo Village intersection, up to the intersection of Marrakech Road with Airport Road, in the direction from Deira to Rashidiya, spanning about 1.1 km.
The detour will be in place until the end of August, according to an RTA statement reported Khaleej Times.
Maitha bin Adai, CEO of the RTA’s traffic and roads agency, said: “[The] RTA had charted a plan for traffic diversions all along the Airport Road in both directions, which involves providing a permanent detour throughout the project construction period over two phases.
The project includes the construction of a three-lane flyover in each direction along with a ramp from the bridge to Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport. A two-lane tunnel in each direction will serve the leftward-bound traffic movement from Airport Road to the direction of Marrakech Road, said bin Adai.
Work is under way in constructing bridges and underpasses alongside utility lines works and the construction of a sewage system pumping station in the area. More info
