A spokesperson from The Dubai Mall has refuted claims of a gas leak on its premises earlier today, with stories circulating that the parking areas had been cordoned off, as well the roads leading into the shopping centre.
Pictorial evidence however, suggests that an incident requring the services of Dubai Civil Defence, did take place.
In a statement to Emirates 24|7, the spokesperson said: “There has been no incident of any gas leakage in the mall.
“The gas leak was reported in the vicinity, and as a precautionary measure, and as part of our commitment to the highest safety standards, we worked with the concerned authorities to divert traffic and pedestrians.”
The spokesperson further added: “The authorities are investigating the incident.”
Meanwhile, the Twitter world was abuzz with stories circulating, with WA even tweeting a picture of the incident at the mall depicting a fire hose spraying water on the east side of the mall, with the entrance to Burj Khalifa just a few metres down. More info
