If you’re heading towards Burj Khalifa Downtown Dubai and Atlantis The Palm in your own car to watch the New Year fireworks, the news is not good.

All roads leading towards these two areas have been witnessing heavy traffic as people try to reach the happening places well before the fireworks in order to pre-empt the rush. But people had started reaching there at around 5pm to see history in the making.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority said The Dubai Mall is full busy and the parking was full well before 8pm; it suggestged using the public transport to reach it and celebrate the New Year.

Dubai Mall said taxis have also been barred to enter due to large number of people in the mall.

Accesses to Burj Khalifa from Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road have been witnessing heavy traffic. Roads and Transport Authority has already declared that cars will be restricted after 8:00 pm and visitors are requested to use Dubai Metro.

Long traffic queues have also been reported in other major areas and streets such as Dubai Internet City, Al Sufouh Road, Jumeirah Road and Hessa Street.

Al Sufouh Road has been clogged as motorists are heading towards The Walk area from where people can see both Atlantis and Burj Al Arab fireworks.

The Palm Jumeirah and The World Islands will play host to a glittering display of fireworks that will attempt the colossal task of setting off over 400,000 fireworks across 100km of shoreline, in just six minutes to set a new Guinness World Record, at the other end of the city stands the towering Burj Khalifa.
