More than one million passengers have ridden on the Dubai Metro since it’s launch earlier this month, official figure show.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) revealed 1,018,030 people travelled between the 10 stations on the Red Line since it was officially opened on September 9 until Saturday.
The most popular station during this time was Mall of the Emirates, which served 192,585 passengers, followed by Rashidiya Station, with 147,741.
The least used station was Airport T-3, which had just 32,381 passengers.
“The success of Dubai Metro is a real success to the city of Dubai and a true manifestation of the bustling passenger traffic, said Peyman Younes Parham, director of marketing and corporate communications.
“The metro also contributes to the reduction of gas emissions from vehicles & motorbikes, helps preserve the environment, and creates a fun atmosphere during mobility,” he added.
Parham urged passengers to be considerate of other people when using the metro and to allow passengers off the train first before boarding.
