Dubai: Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, reaffirmed RTA’s commitment to carry out its plan to emiratise jobs in Dubai Metro.

He said that the authority is keen on implementing a clause in the contract it has signed with the Serco Group plc (Serco), which stipulates that, over the initial five years of metro operation, the authority will provide training and job opportunities in leadership and supervisory roles for Emiratis to achieve an emiratisation rate ranging between 30 to 50 per cent.

This came during a meeting that was held by Matter Al Tayer with Emirati employees in Serco, which was also attended by Adnan Al Hammadi, CEO of RTA Rail Agency, Zafar Raja, CEO of Serco Middle East, and Terry Worrall, CEO of Dubai Metro Operation.

As he addressed the gathering, Al Tayer urged them the Emirati employees to exert serious and dedicated efforts in their jobs for the benefit of the nation and to achieve the satisfaction of Dubai Metro users.

He specifically called upon them to implement the rules and regulations set by the RTA to maintain the project facilities, enforce the law against offenders, benefit from the existing expertise to enhance their careers, and to be part of the success story of the Dubai Metro, the Green Line of which is to be inaugurated by the RTA in September.
