During the month of Ramadan the frequency of trains servicing Dubai’s Red and Green Line will be reduced, the Roads and Transport Authority has stated.
“Just like every year, we reduce the frequency of trains operating during Ramadan,” said Ramadan Abdullah, director of the Rail Operations Department, RTA.
“Ramadan is a time of family gatherings, and people tend to go out less. Especially during the evenings, we see less people using the Metro than in other months.”
Although the exact Metro timings during the month of Ramadan still have to be announced, Abdullah said the time of the first and last train would remain the same, and frequency would only be reduced at certain time slots.
Currently, the first express train departs at 5.30am, while the first regular train departs at 5.50am during weekdays. More info
Train frequency depends on the location and the time of the day.
Recently, the RTA increased the train frequency to 3 minutes on the Red Line during peak hours, which lasts from 6.30am-9am and 4.30pm-8 pm.
This will change during Ramadan, though the RTA has still to decide by how many minutes.
