Dubai Police have launched a phone campaign in a bid to persuade motorists with outstanding traffic fines to pay before Jan 10 as they look for boost revenues, Arabian Business has learned.

Police are calling motorists with fines of more than AED10,000 and companies who owe more than AED30,000 to outline an emirate-wide discount on fines to encourage payment.

“Dubai police are phoning and urging individuals who have accumulated fines of more than AED10,000 and companies that have fines for more than AED30,000  to pay it and benefit from the 40 percent discount that has been already announced,” said Lieutenant Omran Abdullah, media spokesperson for Dubai Police.

Dubai announced in August that motorists would be given a 30 percent discount on all traffic fines for three months in a bid to encourage drivers to settle outstanding fines. More info
