Dubai road clean up: RTA, Dubai Municipality join forces

In a bid to maintain the aesthetic beauty of Dubai, the Road and Transport  Authority (RTA) and Dubai Municipality have joined forces to fork out a drive  to clean the city roads.

The clean-up drive will be conducted over two months.

“We would like to find out all possible ways to keep our city clean and beautiful,” said Salah Amiri, assistant director general of Dubai Municipality.

“As Dubai is a global tourist destination we have to maintain its beauty. So, Dubai Municipality and RTA have joined its machinery to clean up the roads, as it is reflects on the city.”

In the first phase, the team will focus on Sheikh Zayed Road.

“In many areas soil has accumulated on the median, and some parts have uncut grass. So far, our team has cleaned up the 5-km stretch from Trade Centre tunnel up until Safa Park.”

According to him, 17,552 packets of waste have been collected from this area.
