The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) at the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement with the Arabian Automobiles Company (AAC) for the purchase of 200 brand new Nissan Altima 2.5 S, including maintenance, repairs and genuine spare parts supply.
“The DTC has released a Tender through Tejari.com portal for the procurement of 687 sedan cars and the Arabian Automobiles Company has submitted an offer and got an order for 200 vehicles from the Tender lot. The Company is considered a key supplier of taxicabs to DTC fleet which currently amounts to 3,504 vehicles deployed 24 hours a day, including holidays, official holidays and Islamic Eids. Currently there are about 500 Nissan-make vehicles in the fleet; which accounts for 14.27 per cent of the fleet,” said Acting CEO of DTC Yousef Al Ali.
“As part of its strategic vision, the DTC is seeking to leverage the quality of its service and the facilities on offer to customers, increase operational efficiency, promote & publicize its services and initiatives, and enhance its standing among all community segments to epitomize the DTC’s new vision “Pioneers in Passenger Transport Services,” he added.
“As per the Contract, the Arabian Automobiles Company shall provide support and technical supervision to DTC at any time, besides the necessary training for the DTC’s employees and technicians on all vehicles supplied, which includes: maintaining and repairing the main parts such as engine, gearbox and differential gear, AC, repairing electrical faults, providing preventive maintenance procedures, providing the modus operandi of vehicles supplied under this contract, maintenance & repair manual to troubleshoot (mechanical, electrical, body) faults along with the spare parts manuals, and providing theoretical & practical training for ten technicians at DTC’s headquarters, as per the timetable and training courses to be agreed upon.
The Arabian Automobiles Company shall also deliver induction courses for 20 DTC’s employees, by delivering courses covering the basics of mechanics of the new vehicles,” he explained.
“The Arabian Automobiles Company shall provide a dedicated team of engineers and technicians to conduct periodic visits to be agreed on later, to hone the skills and enrich the experiences of the DTC’s technical and administrative cadres, and keep them updated with the relevant technical and administrative knowledge, as well as organizing special visits to Nissan Factory engineers to receive technical and advisory support and share experiences with the DTC,” he further added.
