Dubai to continue kids-go-free drive this summer

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has announced that it will continue with its popular ‘kids go free’ campaign from May 14 to September 30.

DubaiThe promotion, launched in 2009, is part of DTCM’s efforts to consolidate Dubai’s strength as a leading global tourism destination and boost the number of visitors to the emirate.

The campaign this year will include 50 per cent discount on airfare for up to two kids under 12 years when flying Emirates and 25 per cent discount on airfare for up to two kids under 12 years when travelling on flyDubai.

Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman, Executive Director for Media Relations and Business Development, said, as part of its continuous efforts to promote Dubai as a leading tourism destination and based on the previous success, the DTCM will roll out the popular Kids Go Free campaign this year as well offering families from across the globe an incredible experience when they visit Dubai.

The DTCM-led campaign involves 60 participating hotels with 16 attractions that would give tourists one of the best experiences – a taste that blends the best of the Arab culture and modern lifestyles.

During a recently held meeting chaired by Khalid A bin Sulayem, Director-General of the DTCM and Chairman of the Industry Liaison Group, industry stakeholders took a stock of the regional events, developments in Dubai’s tourism industry and related issues.

A media statement by DTCM added that some officials expressed their optimism and maintained that the current situation will have a positive effect on Dubai’s tourism sector.

Abdul Rahman updated the group on issues related to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs. He informed the attendees that a meeting with Brigadier Muhair, Deputy Director-General resulted in some new developments including: shifting of the iris scan facility to the immigration counters within six months gradually due to the length of the iris scan queues at the airport; issuance of cruise visa was welcomed and approved from the ministry and is in the process of finalizing procedures and processes.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) officials also gave a presentation of the Dubai Ferry Project that offers a good tourism product for incoming tourists to Dubai.

RTA has introduced a luxury catamaran ferry service for the inbound tourist who could avail trips for Dh50 and Dh75 that will showcase Dubai’s coastline and the developments around Dubai’s growing skyline. It will offer the tourists a glimpse of the rapid development of Dubai as a city, while giving them a trip down memory lane of the rich cultural heritage while passing through the Shindagha Heritage Village.
