The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai (RTA) has started applying the final touches to the Dubai Water Canal project in preparation for its official opening in November, the RTA tweeted on Friday night.
The RTA posted: “#RTA, represented by the Traffic and Roads Agency, started applying the final touches to the project of the #Dubai_Water Canal by cleansing the water, removal of the sedimentation and refilling it from the sea, in addition to the paving of the pedestrian pathways in preparation for the official opening next November.”
In mid-July, the RTA announced that with all three new flyovers (Shaikh Zayed Road, Al Wasl and Jumeirah Beach Road) complete, the canal excavation work would be over by the end of September.
The Dh2 billion Dubai Water Canal, which stretches 3.2km from the Business Bay Canal up to the Arabian Gulf via the Shaikh Zayed Road, Al Wasl Road and Jumeirah Road, was unveiled on October 2, 2013. More info
