The FXFOWLEdesigned Sixth Crossing is one of the biggest road projects ever undertaken by Dubais Road Traffic Authority (RTA).
The total project costs, which include roadworks around the Lagoons area, is AED 3 billion (US$ 817 billion), while the bridge will cost AED 2.5 billion (US$ 680 billion).
The Crossing will rise 15 m above Dubais Creek, allowing free navigation 24 hours a day. Its arch will have a height of 205 m and a length of 667 m, making it the longest arch-bridge in the world, according to the RTA.
It will be 1.6 km-long and 64 m-wide and have 12 lanes; six in each direction. Dubai Metros Green Line will use the middle of the bridge. Construction is divided into six phases.
The new bridge will link Dubai Healthcare City, Sama Al-Jadaf, and the Culture Village at Bur Dubai, on one side of the Creek, and Dubai Festival City, the Lagoons, International City, and Dubai Design Centre at Deira on the other. Video: RTA. Source:Â www.youtube.com
