Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority is to auction off car registration plates branded after Expo 2020 Dubai exhibition, it was announced at the weekend.
“We will in this auction for the first time offer 20 plates coded EXPO, which are named after the most important event in the UAE next year: Expo 2020,” Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, said in a press statement.
Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, said: “We highly appreciate the efforts of the RTA in supporting us to host an exceptional World Expo in line with the directives of our wise leadership. RTA’s support is invaluable as they develop a number of projects that will offer a seamless and unique transport experience for millions of visitors to Expo from all over the world.
“The plate numbers that will carry the Expo 2020 Dubai logo were chosen to help spread awareness about the world’s greatest show. For example, 1851 was the year of the first ever World Expo, 1970 was the year of the first Emirati participation in a World Expo and 2013 was the year UAE won the bid to host the World Expo for 2020.”
Registration for the auction starts on Sunday 22 September 2019 and bidding kicks-off at 04:30 pm on Saturday, September 28th, 2019 at the InterContinental Dubai-Festival City Hotel.
Interested bidders can register for the auction either online (www.rta.ae) or with any of RTA’s Customer’s Happiness Centres at Umm Al Ramool, Deira and Al Barsha. Registration will also be available on the auction day at 02:00 pm.
Expo 2020 Dubai will run from October 20, 2020 to April 20, 2021 and it is estimated the event will attract 25 million visitors to the UAE. The Dubai government is planning to spend around $40 billion on major projects related to the event. More
