The new initiative supports the Smart Dubai initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world.

“Dewa launched the first electric vehicle charging station in Dubai at Dewa Headquarters.

“As part of the first phase, 100 electric vehicle charging stations are being built this year, of which 16 are now ready.

“In the second phase, Dewa will install 84 charging stations of three different types, fast-charging, medium-charging and home-charging stations, will be installed across Dubai,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa.

He noted that fast-charging points provide 80 per cent charge in 20 to 45 minutes depending on the type of car and battery capacity.
