KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) — Another railway operator in Malaysia, Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) has been trusted to second 13 of its staff to Mecca’s Metro Line, an 18-kilometre railway system in Saudi Arabia, to assist the company during the busy Haj season.
ERL’s executive chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh said the team comprising of ERL and its subsidiary ERL Maintenance Support Sdn Bhd (E-Mas) senior staff with over 10 years of experience were seconded as Assistant Station Masters and Operations Training Specialists until November.
He said this proved that ERL was of world standard and that the opportunity to work with Mecca Metro Line would serve as a great platform for the team to bring back invaluable experiences.
“Established from scratch on the foundation of technology transfer, we have so successfully honed our railway expertise that we are today able to collaborate with world-renowned industry leaders and provide services to other rail operators both in Malaysia and abroad,” he said before sending the team off on the KLIA Express here Monday.
The Mecca Metro Line connects the holy cities of Mecaa, Arafat, Muzdalifah and Mina in Saudi Arabia with the capacity to transport 500,000 pilgrims in eight hours.
It has been collaborating with Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) since 2010 on various tasks.
Mohd Nadzmi also said that over the past 10 years, ERL and E-Mas had gained invaluable experience and expertise in operating and maintaining services with an impeccable 99.7 per cent on time service performance. More info
