First part of Jumeirah Corniche opens on Sunday

Dubai: The first part of the Jumeirah Corniche project – soon to be the city’s longest Corniche and a social and sports hub — opens the public on Sunday.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the initial phase of the project extending more than 2km starting from the Dubai Sailing Club up to a point adjacent to the Dubai Municipality’s Centre at Umm Suqeim. The project is more than 70 per cent complete and is on schedule for its October opening this year.

Nabeel Mohammad Saleh, Director of Roads at the RTA Traffic and Roads Agency, invited walking and jogging enthusiasts to give the completed portion of the Jumeirah Corniche a try on its opening day.

The 14-km project stretches from the beach adjacent to six residential areas starting from the backyard of the Dubai Marine Resort up to Burj Al Arab Hotel.

The project comprises a walkway measuring five metres in width, a jogging track measuring four metres in width, and rest-houses fitted with commercial kiosks, shaded benches overlooking the beach, and public and health facilities.

The project has a unique landscaping theme that being specially developed and will have decorative lighting. More info
