Dr Abdullah bin Mohammad BelHaif Al Nuaimi, UAE Minister of Public Works, announces that there are studies going on currently to examine the possibility of partial operation of the railway project, which will link the capitals of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Al Nuaimi adds in a statement to reporters on the sideline of the first Railway, Roads and Maritime Infrastructure Technology Conference held in Abu Dhabi, that “It was planned to start the project in 2018, but some countries in the Gulf declared that they are not ready yet to take this step. [So,] we are now studying partial operation for the project and will be announcing another deadline for the start-up,” Bahrain-based Al Wasat Newspaper reports.
Al Nuaimi, who also chairs the National Transport Authority, refused to declare the names of these countries, but he confirms that UAE is ready to start the project. More info
