Residents of the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) South who had been cut off from their new Dubai Metro station can now access it by bus.
Those in Jafza South had been unable to reach the new station, which opened on March 11, due to ongoing construction where the southern side entry and exit pod have yet to be built.
The measure was a welcome move for those who live and work in the area.
“Access to the Metro from Jafza South will spare us the expense of having to hire buses to pick up and drop off our employees,” said Osama Abu Khader, a Jordanian sales and marketing director for an auto parts supply company.
Abdulredha Abu al Hassan, director of the Roads and Transport Authority planning and design department, said there had been a plan with the Downtown Jebel Ali developer Limitless to build the entrance and exits.
But due to changes in the company’s construction plans, they were now looking into temporary access alternatives until a proper and permanent entrance and exit could be built.
The new route starts at the Jebel Ali Metro Station, passing about 30 companies and other entities in Jafza before reaching the south portion.
The bus route includes six stops in Jafza and 20 in Jafza South and runs every 30 minutes between 7.10am and 11.15pm every day.
